Hi Kelly!
I just learned about your plight yesterday from CarolPowell...This is Cathy Johns, one of your old friends from the Genesee Valley BOCES days! I was so sorry to hear of your conintuing battle with cancer. I remember you with great fondness and still miss the smiles you often brought when we worked together. I often feel so alone out on the road all the time compared to our comradery at old Building C. Its weird to think of those as "the good ol' days", but its true! I do have a facebook account and will send you a message to "friend" you there. I would love to keep in touch and hear how you're doing.
As for me...I was separated from Brian in 2003. It's still weird to be a woman "on her own"...although both my kids, Bethany and Patrick, still live at home at 26 and 22 years of age! I think they don't like the thought of leaving me alone...although I have 4 dogs and 2 cats! LOL! I have 2 chihuahuas, a Yorkie mix, and a Shihpoo. They all sleep with me so I don't feel so alone in bed! LOL!
Bethany has a "significant" other by the name of Angelo who has 2 children. Angelo lives with us and his 4 and 7 year old sons stay with us on the weekends so, between everyone, I keep busy!
Finances are a real struggle with my income cut in half with Brian's income gone. But I do therapy after school privately and work with a student and his family under something called "self determination" that has helped with bills. Now that I've found you and your cause I plan to make a contribution each pay day starting 2/5/2010. I figure even a little bit at a time would help, right? I will also look for any special fund raisers you have and let everyone I know about them as well.
I still remember you with great fondness. Would it be possible to come visit you sometime? I could bring my ittle Yorkie-pug-westy mix, Hoshi girl, with me too! I bring her to work with my students often. My cats sort of adopted her as a puppy and taught her to catch mice and she thinks she's more cat than dog! LOL1 I'd love to introduce you to her!
Guess I've filled you in well enough! You KNOW what a gabber I am! LOL! I'd love to see you! Let me know if that's OK. Are you still in Livonia? If you give me your address I can just put it in my Tom Tom. I hope I can. If you'd rather not, I'd understand.
Please take care and keep up the fight. I have you in my prayers and will keep you there!
With Love,
Cathy Johns
